William Joseph Nissley
September 26, 1931 - February 6, 2001

My beloved father, Bill Nissley, passed away very suddenly on Tuesday, February 6, 2001, at age 69. He had contracted Necrotizing Fasciitis, the “Flesh Eating Bacteria”, after minor surgery in the Christiana Hospital, Newark, Delaware. His story is similar to other NF stories, where the doctors kept sending him home from the hospital, not diagnosing NF until it was too late.

If anyone is currently going through a struggle with NF, please continue to question the doctors to ensure everything is being done to save your loved one, including the use of different treatments such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy, clindamycin and intravenous immunoglobulin therapy. Also, if you have any questions on NF, the Yahoo discussion group at http://www.nnff.org/nnff_discussion.htm is a group of survivors with real life survival stories and real life experiences with NF and are very willing to help and answer questions…
