My beautiful wife Debbie came home from work on 1 July this year with a very painful leg. She phoned me at work to say she had gone home early. I asked her if she would like me to come home to look after her she said no she was going to try to sleep it off. The next day it got worse and I took her to the local hospital. They let people with sprains and cuts go through. My wife went to the toilet and then we were called. Initially they placed her on antibiotics and completely left her alone while the antibiotics worked. They forgot all about paracetamol to get the temperature down for two hours. Then all he'll broke loose because noone knew what to do so they sent for a surgeon who found necrotising fasciitis. He then observed that my wife's kidneys were not working.( you may recall five hours earlier they were). They then went to work on her blood pressure and got that up( it strikes me now if they had acted earlier when debbies kidneys were working this would have been unnecessary. All through this she behaved with dignity and strength. I just kept saying keep her safe. She went up for the debridement and her last words to me were look at me I love you I'll see you later ok! She survived the operation and went to icu. They said her signs at the moment were ok. I went home to try to get sleep but after 1/2 hour I had a call saying come back now. I got there held her head kissed it and she died in my arms. My heart is split in 2 the greatest thing in my life died within 48 hours of just having a painful leg. The infection got in through a leg ulcer the size of a penny. I am heartbroken lonely and my world is finished. RIP debbie my heart my soul my everything is up there with you and we will meet again I promise. I love you my darling xxxxx.
